Egbe Bobagunwa Diamond Obirin Akile Ijebu Shines at Ojude Oba as Iya Egbe and Baba Egbe Unveiled

Ijebu, Nigeria – In a vibrant display of culture and tradition, Egbe Bobagunwa Diamond Obinrin Akile Ijebu, one of the recent accredited cultural groups in Ijebuland, marked a significant moment during the 2025 Ojude Oba festival with the official unveiling of Chief Mrs. Akorede Adunni Kuforiji as the Iya Egbe and Prince Animashaun as the Baba Egbe.

The unveiling ceremony, which took place following a courtesy visit to the revered Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, was a grand reflection of the group's deep respect for the Regberegbe cultural rites of Ijebuland. These two figures, now as Patron and Matron of Egbe Bobagunwa Diamond Obinrin, symbolize the finest qualities of the group: beauty, intelligence, and an unwavering love for their roots.

With the leadership of Chief Mrs. Odutola Olasubomi Ajimuda, the Iyalode Egbe, expresses her pride in the unity and dedication of the young generation of Egbe members. "We are proud to unite as young adults who value culture and tradition, fostering an atmosphere of love, togetherness, and growth as  continued strength of Ijebuland's cultural heritage," she said.

As the cultural procession unfolded on Ojude Oba day, Egbe Bobagunwa Diamond Obinrin Akile Ijebu, led by its leadership team including the Iyalode, Otun Egbe Adesanya Modupe Omotolani, and Eta Egbe Owodunni Zharat Akinbanjo, joined other Regberegbe groups in the annual procession. This procession, an iconic feature of the Ojude Oba festival, displayed the group's deep commitment to preserving and promoting Ijebu's rich cultural legacy.

The group’s active participation in the cultural event highlights its dedication not only to promoting unity and development but also to strengthening Ijebuland’s position as a hub for business and tourism. Through such participation, Egbe Bobagunwa Diamond Obinrin Akile Ijebu is reinforcing the idea that culture is a powerful tool for bringing people together and driving positive change.

This year's Ojude Oba festivities have once again showcased the continued importance of Regberegbe groups in fostering cultural pride, unity, and growth in Ijebuland and beyond.
