Following heated controversies generated by the allegation of monthly allocation deduction, the Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the sum of 300 million naira for the 20 local governments in the state. An online news  platform, Gateway  Times had few days back punctured the report by the state government that it was augmenting the monthly allocation of local governments in the state, rather than deducting it. Previously, sources revealed that each LG chairman only received a paltry sum of #2.5m monthly when Gov Abiodun came on board as Security Votes, but was later increased to N3m following a protest by the Council chairmen. It could be recalled that council Chairmen are to release N300,000.00 to the LG Vice-Chairmen. While a sum of N350, 000 are again deducted for ‘Abeokuta’. ......releases breakdown till date The Ogun State government has countered the claims by the Ogun State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Waheed Oloyede, that only N3billion had been released so far for the payment of arrears of gratuity and pensions. Oloyede during a press conference in Abeokuta, said that the incumbent administration in the state did not pay N70b for the defray of outstanding gratuities, but N3billion, which he claimed was too low. The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has described the death of the former Head of Service in the state, Engineer Isiaq Olanrewaju Bisiriyu, as shocking, painful and a great loss to the state. Abiodun, who noted that the former Number One civil servant in the state was a thorough-bred public servant and astute administrator, declared that Ogun has lost one of its finest in the public sector. The governor said though Engineer Bisiriyu had retired from the service, his contributions to the state matters, particularly in the area of public service would be sorely missed. He was the first Head of Service to work with Gov. Abiodun when he assumed office in 2019.
